Why You Should Definitely Add Croatia To Your Travel List
To be honest, Croatia was never a country that was at the top of my list but damn....I was so wrong!
I swear I keep repeating myself, saying “this is the most amazing and beautiful place I’ve ever been” but it’s true. The more I travel, the more I realize how beautiful the world is and Split, Croatia is the perfect example.
Living in Europe, it’s almost too easy to travel. I mostly travel by bus which can sound awful but usually I just sleep or watch movies and before I know it, I’m at my destination. Split is about a 12 hour drive from Florence but 100% worth it.
It was the perfect way to end my season of summer trips. It’s a quaint, beach city with not many tourists. The Main Street is made of marble and lined with palm trees, running parallel to the Adriatic Sea. In the center of the Old Town is the 4th century Palace of Diocletian. If you ever watched Game of Thrones, picture the cities of Braavos and Meereen since it was in fact filmed there. The Old City of Split is one of the oldest in the WORLD and it is truly so authentic. There is also the Saint Dominus Cathedral which is the oldest Catholic Church in the world! I definitely recommend climbing the bell tower or an amazing view of the entire city!
Not to mention that Croatia is extremely cheap! Their currency is called Kuna. One USD is about 7 Kuna.
The second day, my friends and I went on a booze cruise (because why not) out to some lagoons and islands off the coast. We stopped at the island of Solta for lunch. It was so serene and calm. After we got back on the boat we stopped for some swimming at the Bleu Lagoon. The water was so clear you could see directly to the bottom and it was almost green! Just truly stunning!

Later that night we decided to go to a steakhouse and just enjoy our evening and celebrate our end of summer trip!
Our last day, we went to Krka National Park and the Krka Waterfalls. This was truly one of the most natural and beautiful places I’ve ever been! Pictures don’t do it justice. In fact, they don’t do Split any justice either. If this hasn’t convinced you to add Croatia to your travel bucket list, I don’t know what will!
